Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
