Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
