Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
